FluxLounge Mockups
A good example of my design and XHTML development capabilities can be found in some mockups I developed for FluxLounge, a company I planned to set up with a colleague.
Since the company was to specialise in web development, it was imperative that the site be attractive, accessible and functional, but also differentiate itself both visually and functionally from the sites of other web development agencies.
We discussed a number of visual and branding styles, and developed a significant number of different mockups for both corporate branding and the website. Over 50 designs were developed, and progressed through a number of evaluation stages before they was made a candidate for the final design.
On this page are a number of notable designs I created exclusively.
Wallpaper/Reflective Plinth
This design progressed through quite a number of stages and colour palettes.
The initial designs were in warmer colours such as orange and cream, since the goals for the individual design were for the site to be warm and friendly, as well as simple and usable.
The design was extended later to accommodate darker, cooler colour schemes.

This mockup was designed purely for differentiation purposes. The eventual goal was that the site would be spectacularly realistic (only initial mockups were achieved) to the point where visitors would come back simply to watch it.
The design was to have a gently rippling pool of water, on which the content would rest, above which strange, complicated concrete monoliths complete with hanging gardens would float gently back and forth.
FluxLounge Flat Blue Mockup
This third Mockup was designed to be both subtle and subdued. Initially, the mockup appeared too bland, lacking any interesting design elements. In an attempt to add interest to the design, a Starfield was added to the top right corner (see starfield mockup below.)
Eventually this detailling was replaced with leaves, as the stars were not appealing to me upon completion of the design. Subtle detailing and single pixel shines were also added to the final version.
